COMPONENTS OF
HOSPICE CARE
Interdisciplinary Team -
includes a physician, registered nurse, social worker,
bereavement counselor, and spiritual counselor. These
professionals work together to provide the best care for both
patient and the family.
Symptom Management - a key element of Hospice Care. Team
members are trained in pain management as well as specific
therapies for anxiety, depression, nausea, and other complicated
symptoms.
Comprehensive Care - the hospice team considers not only
the physical needs, but also the emotional needs of the patient
and family.
Bereavement Care - hospices provide families with
bereavement care for up to one year following the death of the
patient.
Additional Services - some additional services may be
also provided to eligible patients, such as physician
management services, medical supplies and appliances, home
health aides, or dietary and other counseling.
