Spark a smile. Lend a hand. Pat a shoulder. Listen. Share memories. Cry a little, laugh a lot. Learn new skills. Help someone. Just be there.
Hospice Volunteers are the “heart of caring”. Patients and families enjoy the friendly face and attentive ear of volunteers. Our staff appreciate the helping hand volunteers provide in the local offices. When you become a Hospice Care of South Carolina Volunteer, you will experience the joy of a lifetime. There is a place for you!
Many opportunities are available. Patient and family companions, office helpers, light house chores, shopping, and yard work are just a few of the ways you can serve the families of Hospice Care of South Carolina. Our volunteers also play an important role in Katherine's Camp, a bereavement camp for children.
All Hospice Care of South Carolina Volunteers are guided through a comprehensive training designed to prepare the volunteer for the particular area they wish to serve. All volunteers are required to attend Hospice 101where you will learn about the basics of hospice and the many options available for volunteers. We also have opportunities for group projects and group training.
For information about our program, please contact our Director of Volunteers, Jennifer Pooley, at 864-641-8227 or jenniferp@hospicecare.net.
If you are interested in becoming a hospice volunteer, please contact us. We would be happy to explain the training requirements and available options. An interview, reference check, SLED background check, 2 part PPD test, and drug screen are required for all patient and office support volunteers.
